Tragus Piercing FAQ
Q: How painful is the Tragus piercing?
The Tragus is a small, dense piece of cartilage. You will feel a lot of pressure during the piercing, but the pain is generally quick and manageable (4/10).Q: How long until I can use my earbuds again?
You must avoid using earbuds or in-ear headphones for the entire healing period (6–12+ months). They put excessive pressure on the jewelry and can introduce bacteria. Use over-the-ear headphones instead.Q: Can I pierce my Tragus with a ring?
No, due to the tight space and high movement risk, we only pierce the Tragus with a small, flat-back stud for initial healing.Q: What if I have to talk on the phone a lot?
Use the speakerphone setting or hold the phone slightly away from your ear to prevent your screen from pressing against the piercing, which can cause trauma and introduce bacteria.
Tragus Piercing Aftercare
Average Healing Time: 6–12+ months.
Cleaning: Clean the piercing twice daily.
Option 1 (Saline): Spray the area with sterile saline solution and gently pat dry with a non-woven gauze pad.
Option 2 (Water): Rinse in the shower with clean, warm running water and pat dry.
Specific Care: Do not use in-ear headphones or earplugs during the entire healing period, as they will push on the jewelry and cause trauma.
What to Avoid:
Avoid touching or playing with the jewelry, as it is close to the ear canal.
Keep hairspray and phone screens (bacteria) away from the piercing.
