Piercings, especially with needles can be an intimidating thought for children and adults alike. 

 

Our appointment times for two lobe piercings for kids being ONE hour long instead of 45 minutes for adults allow much more time to explain the process and allow for a break in-between piercings if needed.

Piercings are a form of body modification, this is why we focus on informed consent for kids too. While parents can legally consent for the child it is our belied that when it comes to piercing, it is a much more empowering experience when the child has a sense of control and understanding of the procedure.

This is why we generally pierce from the age of 5, this age is where we find most children can understand what is going on and feel in control of the process.

It is important to us that it is not only a positive and empowering experience for the child but also is easy and relaxing for the parents/guardians.

We try to ensure the actual appointment if centred around the child, however, there are a few things we do to ensure comfort for parents / guardians.

We always ascertain a budget before the appointment, this means we will only show the child jewellery options within this price range to alleviate any pressure from the child to exceed the amount you are comfortable spending.

There is a chair in the piercing room and we allow up to 3 family members in the room for the piercing ensuring no-one is left out. You may stand next to your child during the process to ensure comfort provided you follow direction if we need to move you around to ensure safety.

Even with the increased appointment times we do not believe in charging more for children’s piercings. This is to make getting your child’s ears pierced safely more accessible.

Children get the same access to aftercare information and safe jewellery and piercing as out adult clients get at no extra cost.
